Imagine this: you are having a night in, watching movie, drinking wine…and you want pizza. You don’t want to make pizza, but you definitely don’t want to pay to get pizza delivered. You could have frozen pizzas from the grocery store in the freezer to pop in or you can have your own homemade pizza in freezer. Making it yourself is cheaper, just as easy in the moment, and no excess ingredients or preservatives.
If you want to make that fantasy a reality, you came to the right place. And the beauty of it, you can make it with as much effort as you want to! Want to make you pizza from scratch? Go for it! You want to buy premade ingredients, great! Either way, you will be able to enjoy some easy homemade pizza.
Frozen pizza with fresh homemade dough
If you tried making my New York Style pizza crust, this could be a great next step to make eating pizza even easier. What we usually do is we will make pizzas for us to eat and pizzas to freeze at the same time. This makes it so we only need to clean up and pre-heat the oven once.
Feel free to try this with your own dough recipes! A lot of groceries stores also have raw pre-made dough that you can use too.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450° and stretch out your dough while the oven is preheating
- Bake your crust, with nothing on it, for 3-5 minutes
- The crust should not be raw, but shouldn’t be fully baked! You want it to be cooked enough to hold its shape, but not crispy. Floppy but cooked is ok!
- Once your crust is cooled down, put your chosen crust on a sheet tray. You can use anything to freeze it on. You just want the crust to stay flat so it freezes flat.
- Put parchment paper under the crust if you are worried about sticking
- Layer your favorite toppings on the pizza
- I recommend if you like more cooked toppings on your pizza, to lightly sauté any veggies you plan to add first, so they are not raw!
- Then put pizza in the freezer for an hour at least to let it freeze most of the way
- If you plan to make multiple, make sure they are frozen before stacking and to separate each layer with parchment paper when you do stack them and wrap them up!

WHEN YOU PLAN TO EAT: Set the oven to 500°-550°! Depending on timing, I either let my pizza thaw in the oven while its preheating or let the oven preheat and let the pizza thaw before baking!
Different amount of toppings/pizza crust take different times. Just keep any eye on it while its baking, it will taste awesome.

Frozen pizza with a premade crust
This option is even easier – I recommend trying a couple different pizza crusts to find which would be your preferred. This option is similar to using fresh homemade dough, but you don’t need to do the step of pre-baking the crust before assembling!
You can use any kind of pre-made pizza crust you would like! Some other ones options I have tried before:
- My mom used to use Stonefire Naan bread for her crusts
- I have used Flatout Flatbreads many of times for quick pizzas

Instructions
- Put your chosen crust on a sheet tray. You can use anything to freeze it on. You just want the crust to stay flat so it freezes flat.

Frozen pizza – getting crazy edition
Here are some other options for crusts that I haven’t tried, but I bet would taste amazing and my theories on how you may do it!
- Hailey’s homemade sourdough flatbread
- I would make the flatbread, then once it is cool, I would use it like any of the other pre-made crusts mentioned above
- Tortillas! You could make this a traditional pizza or a tostada-style pizza
- Any type of gluten free crust you enjoy!
- Bagels – homemade pizza bagels!
- Try to make your own frozen homemade pizza pin-wheels
- A pizza calzone – or any type of calzone (some would call it a hot-pocket)
- Try to make your very own low-cal calzone, zone
- Make a frozen pizza with leftover garlic bread!
I think you get my point. You can use this method for anything. It really isn’t that hard *wink*.
Until next time…
