Do you like fish? That is basically what this easy recipe boils down to – because who eats tartar sauce with anything besides fish. That being said, if you like fish, this post is perfect for you!
Similar to the other dressings/sauces that I have given recipes for, this is very simple, made from mostly pantry ingredients, and takes less than 5 minutes.
You ever have that “wow this is good dressing” feeling when you are at a restaurant? Usually that translates them into making a vat of dressing homemade, because it really elevates a meal and is worth the limited time it takes. Overall – 10/10 try making dressings at home is all I have to say.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
- 5 Tbsp Relish
- 2 tsp Lemon juice
- 1 tsp onion, diced
- 1 tsp Dill, fresh or dried
- Salt and Pepper to taste

Recipe
- Mince the onion and chop the dill
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix
- Add salt and pepper to taste
Easy peezy.

It is ice-fishing season currently, so Sammy and I really enjoy breading fish we catch and air-frying them. It is such an easy and cheap option compared to eating out – and pairs perfectly with this tartar sauce.
If you like this sauce – check out the other sauces/dressing recipes I have made. So far in my series I have made, Caesar dressing, Thousand island dressing, tzatziki sauce, and now tartar sauce.
You may go, “Steph why are you so knowledgeable on dressings/sauces?” – and the answer is I worked at a restaurant. I have made the giant Cambros full of Caesar dressing for a night rush before, and have experienced the late post-shift chicken tender Caesar salad that could make a grown man cry. Part of what made them so good (on top of being free) was the dressing. It adds so much!!
Let me know what other dressing you want easy recipes for. Let all aspire to make the grown men closest to you cry from the joy of eating delicious salads.
