I grew up on Shake N Bake like most Midwest kids. This is my adult version for Crispy Basil Pork. I don’t think this is an extremely profound recipe, but I think it is extremely yummy.
These pork chops are great in the summer with any veggie side, I recently made it with my Japanese Miso Turnips and it was so simple and yummy.
Ingredients
- Pork Chops
- Breadcrumbs
- Fresh Basil
- Salt, Pepper, oil

Recipe
- Roughly cut up the basil into a bowl of breadcrumbs (I use scissors)
- Pat an excess moisture off the meat
- Salt + pepper each side of the pork chops, to your own taste
- Coat the pork with the breadcrumb/basil mixture. Add olive oil on top, and pat down the breadcrumb mixture to stick
- Repeat on other side
- Over a medium heat, sear the pork chops in oil for ~5 minutes on each side until cooked
- They should be crispy and brown!
- If they are thick, you may need to bake them in the oven/cook them longer to reach the correct temperature

Hailey and I ordered a side of pork from farm on my road. We are very lucky that we are able to support local farmers and be able to get a large amount of meat at one time. This can obviously be more expensive up front, but is worth it if you are able to. That being said, be prepared for more pork recipes incoming.
